Default VXR 280 Air Box Mod

    Hi all,
I had a spare hour at work yesterday so I thought i'd have a go at the VXR 280 air box mod. Which involves drilling an extra hole in the air box next to the original intake - which in turn should help the car breath a little better and should give a little extra growl too. I have seen a thread over on VXRonline a where they did that to a Vec VXR and it gained a few extra horses, I dont expect much from it but every little helps and it will fit in nicely with a later mod which should be here next week hopefully.

Is it just an additional hole in the box?

    No additional cold airfeed.

Would that hole not create warmer air being drawn in as that hole would be sucking engine temp air in wouldn't it?

Its definatley feels a little nipier later in the rev range so I feel it must be helping in some way. I was wondering about heat soke because the engine bay of a 2.8 gets extremely hot, but the VXR280 has no extra air feed either so if its good enough for Vauxhall its good enough for me.

No probs mate, I personally would have thought that it may have had an adverse effect but as above the VXR's have it and the one that was being rolling roaded on VXRonline gained an extra 10bhp after the hole was added, now i'm not silly and i,m not expecting anything like that from it but just thought it might help a little bit, as they say - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Sorry mate, I work in plant hire and we had a spare 51mm hole saw sitting about so I made good use of it. Lol. The vent cover was a 70mm soffit vent cut down and bonded to outside of air box. Not exactly how the VXR is done but it works all the same and at £80 + for the air box and it a special order too this was much easier on the pocket.
